K.A.O.S - Kinship Adolescent Out of home Support

KAOS (Kinship Adolescent Out of home Support) is a social and recreational group for high school students living in kinship care, run by the Kinship Care Regional project in partnership with Mountains Youth Services Team, Springwood Community Health & the Integrated Violence Prevention Response Service. KAOS workers possess a wide range of experiences, skills & resources, so are well placed to deal with any particular issues that may be challenging participants. Our main focus with the group, however is to facilitate relationships & have fun!

KAOS provides a space where young people can hang out with others in the same situation, as well as provide some respite to their families. We provide monthly activities at different venues, usually on a Friday night or Saturday. For those young people living in the Nepean(Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury, Penrith) we can usually provide transport; young people outside this region are also welcome. Activities are free or at low cost, and this year have included a Harry Potter themed banquet & trivia night, bushwalking, camping, gokarting, website development workshop, and the ever popular pizza & DVD nights.
